Columbia,SC- studies show that maintaining your HVAC system can lower your electric bills. Here are some tips.

Maintenance Checklist

Maintain your equipment to prevent future problems and unwanted costs. Keep your cooling and heating system at peak performance by having a contractor do annual pre-season check-ups. Contractors get busy once summer and winter come, so it’s best to check the cooling system in the spring and the heating system in the fall. To remember, you might plan the check-ups around the time changes in the spring and fall. [Read more...]

Duct Cleaning and Allergy Relief

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) recommends that you have your air ducts, heating and cooling systems inspected first by a Professional Heating and Cooling Contractor. In many cases, this service is unnecessary. If, after this inspection, you discover that your air ducts have substantial visible mold, dust, dirt, and other contaminants or a musty odor, a professional will recommend duct cleaning. This is especially important if someone in your household suffers from asthma, allergies, or other symptoms that may be related to indoor air pollution. Although duct cleaning alone has never been shown to actually prevent health problems, it is an important step in a whole-house air cleaning strategy. [Read more...]

Protecting Your Deck in the Winter

Many San Diego gardens these days are beautifully enhanced by the addition of treated timber decking. Sunny days and salty sea air can destroy a patio. Maintaining the wood properly is a must, because without protection it will deteriorate and lose its smart appearance quickly.
There are a number of factors which can harm the appearance of your decking. First, and most obvious, there’s the damage that can be caused naturally by the weather and includes rainwater (this sinks into the wood and over time will flush out the natural resins so the decking loses its color and becomes drab and dull). Then there’s sunlight and its harmful UV rays which bleach the wood and break down its cell structure. Winter brings its own problems as freezing and thawing cycles splinter and crack the wood.

Mold, algae, fungi and mildew have a particularly bad effect, too, in that they bring slime and discoloration in their wake. Not to mention the danger of you slipping and injuring yourself on a wet and greasy surface. (Children and the elderly are of course particularly vulnerable to this form of hazard.)

Wood restoration is one of Maverick Painting’s specialties. We take our craft seriously. Every care is taken to ensure that your deck is properly taken from the worst possible condition to a restored and functional extension of your home.

This is done by pressure washing a deck with just the right amount of water pressure; enough to thoroughly clean the wood but not so much that damage occurs. Cleaning decks with too much pressure will completely ruin it, leaving total replacement as your only alternative. This is why hiring a professional deck restoration company to do the job for you is a better idea than taking the risk of damaging your deck beyond repair.

When necessary, we perform carpentry work and an efficient sanding process to bring your deck back to life. Your deck is then sealed to condition the wood and lock out moisture damage.

Call Maverick Painting to schedule a free consultation. We can protect or restore your deck today. 1 (855) PAINT-YOU
